Job Description:
This is a 3rd Shift role, the work schedule is: Sunday-Thursday,
10pm-6:30am Pacific Time SUMMARY Plans and performs receiving,
first article, in-process and final product inspections using a
variety of metrology equipment and techniques suitable to the
governing requirements to consumer, commercial, military and
aerospace standards. Determines and reports compliance and
nonconformity of products or processes from governing standards
using applicable software based or manual reporting systems and
planned sampling and audit techniques. Adheres and promotes
adherence to process compliance related to inspection of incoming
materials, conformity of a broad variety of company and supplied
products, and review of returned material or products. Plans,
coordinates, and completes planned calibrations on measuring and
monitoring equipment. Communicates and reports adherence to
customer and Pelican Quality Processes and Quality Standards
through applicable manual and electronic reporting systems. PRIMARY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts inspections to ensure conformity to electronic or
paper drawings and/or specifications while following established
methods, techniques, and procedures.
- Performs dimensional, visual, and other procedural checks and
tests of finished products, subassemblies, component parts where a
variety of sizes, shapes, weights, and materials require
inspection.
- Identifies quality and/or production issues. Isolates,
controls, and determines the root cause of nonconformity.
Identifies corrective action steps and works with others, as
needed, to correct the issue. Notifies supervisors and others, as
appropriate, of inspection failures and/or tolerances/
specifications situations.
- Makes decisions to use, rework, or scrap damaged components or
products.
- Calibrates measuring and monitoring equipment and testing
devices.
- Maintains daily production records and other reports/ records
as required.
- Completes formal internal quality assurance audits on products
or processes per ISO procedures.
- Follows established company and department policies,
procedures, rules and regulations.
- Actively supports Pelican's Quality Objectives and contributes
to the Quality Management System as assigned.
- Actively supports and adheres to Pelican's Safety Guidelines
and actively participates and contributes to the Safety Management
System as assigned.
- Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and
safe condition.
- Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the
Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows
safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
- Performs additional duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have basic math skills including binary operations (+-/*)
and decimal/fraction conversions.
- Must be able to read and record measurements with precision and
accuracy; identify and utilize detailed part names, numbers, and
critical characteristics.
- Must have ability to learn/use a variety of measuring tools
including calipers, micrometers, inside/outside micrometers,
verniers, pin gauges, height gauges, radius gauges, protractors,
and dial indicators, optical comparators and coordinate measuring
machines.
- Must be able to follow written and/ or verbal instructions with
manual or electronic reporting of results.
- Must be able to learn, comply, communicate and report
compliance or deviation to processes and product quality
standards.
- Must have ability to complete work under minimal
supervision.
- Must be able to work in various production areas including, but
not limited to, receiving, warehouse, quality control,
assembly/fabrication, rotational molding and injection
molding.
- Must be able to communicate and interact effectively and
cooperatively both verbally and in writing with vendors,
contractors and employees at all levels of the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years' experience in quality or a related field or product
line, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn and apply standard testing procedures and
methods.
- Ability to read engineering drawings at a basic level,
determine standards, and relate drawings of parts to the actual
parts.
- Functional computer skills including accuracy of data entry and
ability to use Microsoft Office suite and SAP.
- Able to operate industrial trucks, including forklifts and man
lifts; must be able to maintain certification and be able to work
at elevated heights. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

- Must have the ability to complete assignments within the
timeframe specified by the Manager.
- Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be
able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without
advanced notice.
- Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle
multiple projects simultaneously. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING
CONDITIONS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be
constantly required to execute standard physical activities within
the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be
frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities
within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel,
crouch).
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
